Retail Manager

Ovenly, New York’s beloved creative bakery, is seeking a motivated Retail Manager to join our growing team. This position will manage day-to-day administrative duties associated with our bakeshop and new location(s), as well as work retail shifts as needed. The ideal candidate will have close attention to detail, creativity, and quick problem solving skills. The position has much opportunity for growth and is full-time, requiring a weekly work schedule of Tuesday through Saturday. Ideal candidates should be positive, outgoing, hardworking, and solution driven.

Hours: Full-time
Days: Tuesday-Saturday

Responsibilities:
- Organizes markets and other Ovenly outposts
- Coordinates logistics for new location(s)
- Responsible for the successful operation of Ovenly’s retail locations
- Responsible for ensuring bakeshop is kept clean, neat and orderly
- Builds relationships and demonstrates/ensures exemplary customer service for Ovenly patrons, including answering questions and speaking knowledgeably about products
- Resolves patron complaints and concerns; proactively anticipates issues and take steps to remedy potential issues
- Works retail shifts as needed
- Manages bakeshop quality control including, presentation, storage and freshness of baked goods sold for retail, catering, special orders
- Oversees retail/cafe staff, ensuring standards are held to the highest level possible
- Trains new employees and provides ongoing training and refinement for all retail/cafe staff; creates training plans
- Acts as liaison between the cafe, management, and kitchen team, communicating relevant information between teams
- Coordinates weekly and monthly inventory reporting
- Tracks day-to-day sales and plans pars and develops systems for ordering
- Collaborates with managers to increase efficiency and productivity
- Creates plans for growth
- All other duties as required


Requirements:
- College-degree preferred
- Restaurant or bakery experience preferred
- 3+ years management experience
- Self-motivation, great attitude, willingness to learn and provide feedback
- Long-term goals in the food industry
- Hard-working with a problem-solving-focused attitude
- Fluency in English and appropriate paperwork
- Food handlers certificate or immediate willingness to obtain certificate

Operations Manager

Ovenly is one of the city's largest wholesalers of artisanal baked goods. Since its founding in 2010, the company has grown to 46 staff and maintains daily deliveries to over 100 clients around the New York City area. Ovenly is positioned for major growth in 2015 and we are looking for a big picture thinker who is hardworking, dedicated, and flexible. The Operations Manager successfully oversees the daily operations and management of the production, systems, and flow at Ovenly. This position requires close attention to detail, creativity, and quick problem solving skills to enhance efficiency, productivity, staff satisfaction, and company growth.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• With kitchen management, and based on sales and financial data, create a production schedule for bakery items
• With director of finance, develop a schedule for accounts payable
• Revise and revamp budgets
• Analyze staffing and staff positions
• Manage ordering and sourcing of ingredients and bakery supplies, develop relationships with raw goods vendors
• Develop systems for kitchen organization and maintenance, sanitation, and DOA/DOH policy enforcement to ensure production efficiency and flow
• Develop safety and recall procedures
• Develop and implement quality control systems
• Control waste and develop a waste log system
• Develop implementable training programs for kitchen staff
• Suggest improvements for scaling processes and ingredients for recipes and recipe revamps
• Develop operations flow between multiple retail and manufacturing facilities
• Act as a liaison between staff and management

Requirements:
• 5+ years of operations/management experience, preferably related to food production or manufacturing
• Experience in training/educating staff
• Knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service and Food Handlers Certificate
• Organizational and systems experience and skills
• Flexibility in scheduling
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods of time
